To me, the streets and architecture of Prague make it the city of fairytales. But not the happily-ever-after Disney versions, more like the darker Grimm versions.
There is so much to see in Prague! A one-day trip is going to feel like getting the smallest bite and leave you wanting more. Even three days is only going to be a sample of what this magnificent city has to offer.

1-Day in Prague Itinerary
It’s really hard to choose what to do if you only have one day in Prague! This itinerary is PACKED and doesn’t leave a lot of time for lingering or making extra stops.
There’s one stop on the itinerary that’s optional (Vyšehrad). I think it’s a worthwhile visit BUT it is far from any of the other stops and will likely require you to cut a few other sites. I would choose Vyšehrad and skip Petrin Tower and Wenceslas Square.

Things to Know About Prague, Czech Republic
All the things you need to know to make your time in Prague easy!
Money in Prague
The Czech Republic uses the Czech Crown (CZK).
Some hotels and shops will accept Euros but don’t plan on it.
Language in Prague
The official language of the Czech Republic is Czech. It’s reputed to be very difficult to learn.
English is widely spoken (at least to a basic level) by hospitality and restaurant staff throughout Prague. It’s also spoken by much of the younger generations.
How to Get Around Prague
WALK! Or take public transit.
Public transit is really affordable. Tickets are sold based on time:
- 24 CZK – 30-minute ticket
- 32 CZK – 90-minute ticket
- 110 CZK – 24-hour ticket
- 310 CZK – 72-hour ticket
Uber is a better choice than cabs, but seriously, Prague is a very walkable transit-friendly city.
Things to Eat in Prague
There are lots of delicious food options in Prague but here are two that you just should not miss.
Beefsteak Tartare
If you’ve never heard of Tartare, it’s basically a fancy way of saying raw. Beefsteak tartare is a Czech classic. It’s commonly mixed with condiments or served with egg or garlic on a slice of toast.
If the idea of raw beef makes you a little squirmy, just think of it like land sushi. Try it!
Buchty
These are not regular rolls but sweet, yeasty, delicious balls of dough. They’re a Czech staple and you should eat them (perhaps with every meal) while you’re in Prague.
Enjoy Prague!
Prague is a stunning city! Even if you only have a few days, you can still see all of the highlights.
